shark tank project
In Economics, the teacher lets us watch Shark Tank every friday. The show is basically about entrepreneurs coming into the show and presenting their million dollar idea. After watching this for weeks, our teacher assigns us to come up with an idea/business that the sharks would be interested in. In this project, we were allowed to have a partner. My partner and I started brainstorming and we thought of a restaurant/bar/cafe business where we had this concept of a basketball court. The restaurant was called "Overtime" and it serves excellent custom food like Cheeseburgers, Hotdogs, Steaks, Boba, Fluff Ice, and Macaroon Ice Cream. Besides from thinking of food and designs, we also had to come up with a financial plan to build this organization. With all the start up costs, employee fees , and land ownership/rental, my partner and I came up with $700,000 with ownership or $100,000 with rental. This was meant as a verbal presentation to the class, but the teacher decided not to.
free market vs command economy
In Economics, our instructor gave us an assignment where we had to find an article about country's economy. In the class, we were currently learning about Market, Command, and mixed economy. So as homework, I researched economy's about China. My article says that China is a command economy, but their market is free. Even with laws and restrictions, China is considered a mix economy due to their market and society. Then I presented to class and placed my article on the timeline.
This assignment was important because it help me distinguish between a command economy, mixed economy, and free market. This is meaningful because this improved my speaking skills and overcome my fear of public speaking.
This assignment definitely made an impact on my education because this shows me the countries around the world that are mixed, command, or free. I didn't know China was mainly a command economy.
